Delegated authentication (DA)
Delegated authentication (DA) is a solution for businesses and payment apps who want to perform customer authentication themselves instead of using Dankort Secured by Nets. Thus, the authentication, which usually belongs to the issuer, is delegated (transferred) to the business or payment app itself. Strong customer authentication (SCA) is a requirement from the EU and the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority. Read more about SCA on our support site.
The advantage of DA is that the business / payment app retains full control over the user experience at the time of payment. DA is only relevant for solutions which carry out repeated payments based on saved cards and that cannot use other of the exceptions that the rules on strong customer authentication allow. These will typically be apps with payment functionality. Solutions that use DA are only exempted from using Dankort Secured by Nets at the time of payment. When the user adds a card to the solution, Dankort Secured by Nets is a requirement.
